PUBLIC & PRIVATE RELIEF COMMISSIONS

Within or related to the themes that I explore I have always made a strand of work which expresses my ideas through sleeping figures. My ‘Sleepers’ are poetic, lyrical and dreamlike relief carvings, usually of a figure within a landscape.

The two panels commission for Wrexham Maelor Hospital started with the given theme of an ancient rhyme ‘The Seven Wonders of Wales’

Pistyll Rhaeadr and Wrexham steeple
Snowdon ’s mountain without its people
Overton Yew trees, Saint Winifride’s Well
Llangollen bridge and Gresford bells
